Business Development Manager - STAR Pubs & Bars - Scottish Highlands

HEINEKEN STAR PUBS & BARS

Location: Field Based – The Highlands (Scotland)

Company car provided (not allowance) along with a competitive package, flexible working hours, monthly 121s and our commitment to develop you.

Building Britain’s Best Pub Company

HEINEKEN has a long-held belief that pubs are an integral part of British culture and that well invested pubs run by skilled operators can prosper and thrive. We’re a passionate supporter of the Great British Pub and since 2012 have invested more than £100m in our pubs to broaden their appeal, which we combine with flexible leases and market leading support.

You may have heard that we’ve recently added 1,900 pubs to our Star Pubs & Bars estate making us the third biggest pub company in the UK.

We now need top talent to take on the role of BDM - Highlands (Scotland) - can you hear the whiskey glasses clinking and visualise the tourists flocking to your pubs in this gorgeous part of the country?

Why is this role so important?

You will be coaching and inspiring our licensees to create and maintain terrific British Pubs at the standard we want them to be at. You'll be connecting with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, building open and collaborative commercial relationships. This commercial understanding will allow you to put the right agreements in place from a flexible range of agreement types.

Overall this role is about collaborating with your operators and working with your virtual HEINEKEN UK team to create a great retail experience in our STAR Pubs & Bars for the consumer on every visit.

To achieve this you’ll create a unique Business Plan for each Pub in your remit, encompassing recruitment of new lessees, delivering Capex along with Brand/Marketing Plans. With a deep understanding of the hospitality industry already, you’ll be able to draw from an arsenal of resources to help design, innovate and implement the best retail solution for each of the pubs in your remit.

Reporting to a Regional Operations Director, you’ll be involved in helping grow every aspect of the Lessees and also our Just Add Talent businesses, from negotiations around both the overall deal and the best agreement for the tenant, to also advising on driving the turnover and controlling operating costs. You’ll need to be commercially astute and highly numerate.

Your depth of retail/area management experience will add value but you’ll also have the support of our talented colleagues across the business to draw upon so, it goes without saying that you enjoy interacting with others at all levels and working cross functionally.

Is this role for you?

“Whilst this is without doubt a very fast paced and challenging role, it is hugely rewarding to be working with our lessees and JAT operators to grow truly great pub businesses and be at the centre of transforming our pubs and their local communities”  Mick Howard, Regional Operations Director - North

We will expect a lot from you, but we think you’re the kind of person who will expect a lot from yourself – of course we need to make it worth your while! On top of your base and bonus we offer Bupa for you, 35 days annual holiday, double matched pension up to 10% and that monthly case of our delicious ciders and beers so you can stock up your fridge or save up for those great social occasions.

Salary: £40k - £50k+ base depending on experience

Next Steps

If this sounds like a journey you’d like to join, we’d love to hear from you.

We are passionate about Great British Pubs, so instead of a covering letter talking about you, please simply tell us which pub or bar is your favourite (it doesn’t have to be one of ours) and the reasons why.

Closing date for applications is 16th April and we will be interviewing soon after that.
