Bar and Lounge Manager - Whatley Manor, Malmesbury

We are currently looking for a Bar and Lounge Manager to support our Head of Wine and Beverage as we grow our dedicated team.

Whatley Manor Hotel and Spa is a luxury 5* hotel that operates like a house and feels like a home. Less than 30 minutes from Chippenham, Stroud, Tetbury and Cirencester, we are commutable from many locations in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bath & Bristol.

This beautifully restored 18th century manor house hotel and spa offers a grown up getaway in the heart of the Cotswolds. Set in 12 acres of beautifully kept gardens, we have 23 individually decorated rooms and suites and a range of dining options including our Michelin one-starred restaurant ‘The Dining Room’ and Grey's Brasserie, Whatley’s answer to casual dining.

A new addition to our food offering is The Green Room, a small plate concept where our innovative chefs prepare expertly crafted dishes in front of our guests. We also have conference facilities for up to 24 delegates , Aquarias spa and gym and a 40 seat cinema.

We are AA 5 red star Inspectors Choice Hotel with 3 AA rosettes and are members of the Relais and Chȃteaux and Pride of Britain collections.

Since opening in 2003 we have won many awards for the spa and fine dining. We have retained our 5 bubble rating in the Good Spa Guide 2017. Three of our therapists have won ’therapist of the year’ by Ila, three years running. Our Executive Chef Niall Keating achieved his first Michelin Star and our General Manager Sue Williams is 'Hotelier of the year' 2017.

The role :

As Bar and lounge Manager you will bring individuality, hosting our Bar, Lounge and terrace areas, providing the warmest Whatley Welcome. You will offer a unique afternoon tea experience and provide a wide selection of food and drink options to our guests whilst leading and developing the team to deliver top notch hospitality. You will drive and maintain guest satisfaction, product quality and profitability.

We are looking for:

  • Previous food and beverage experience working in a luxury hotel or similar property
  • Superb guest service skills with a background of exceeding guest expectations
  • Good product knowledge around cocktails, wines and spirits
  • Afternoon tea experience preferred
  • Commercial acumen with a proven track record in staff training and development, product knowledge and profitability
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English
  • An engaging personality, able to communicate at all levels
  • Immaculate personal presentation
  • Pride and precision in your work
