Wine Waiter / Sommelier to join our Mirabelle Restaurant team.

The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne, is situated on the unspoiled elegant Victorian seafront facing the English Channel and is within easy walking distance of the town centre. The hotel has 152 bedrooms and suites, swimming pool and Health Club, and two restaurants - The Garden, which exudes period elegance yet maintains an intimate atmosphere and offers a menu of British fare, and the two rosette-awarded Mirabelle, recognised for high-quality fine dining.

The Wine Waiter / Sommelier role:

  • You will be working within the Mirabelle Restaurant team and be required to serve wine and other beverages to dining guests
  • During service you will recommend and sell wines to guests that will complement their tastes and meal. Engaging with customers is essential therefore enjoyment in delivering the highest levels of service is a must
  • You will also carry out other general waiting duties as part of the Restaurant team.

This is a full time role, working five days over seven which will include weekends, evenings and bank holidays.

 

 

Normal restaurant opening hours are Tuesday - Saturday. Sunday and Monday closed, so these would normally be your days off, however are subject to change during festive periods.

 

 


What we need from you:

 

 

  • Good knowledge of wine is essential
  • Restaurant experience necessary, preferably in a similar luxury establishment
  • Level 2 WSET qualification, or working towards. If you do not have your qualification we are happy to support you in achieving this
  • Polite and personable with good customer service skills
  • Well presented and impeccably groomed
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • A positive personality and service with a smile
