You will be the lead for our onboard medical staff and work in a shoreside team of medical and public health professionals to implement and audit these standards, both on board and ashore. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide expertise on Corporate standards regarding Medical and Public Health areas, in addition to providing expertise to international organisations on Maritime Medical and Public Health areas.
Some of the main responsibilities you will be involved in are:

•    Researching medical and public health evidence based science in order to improve standards and maintain industry leadership
•    Working closely at a corporate and international level on issues affecting medical and public health practice within our business
•    Leading the quality assurance agenda for the clinical service provided by Carnival UK in respect of the work of doctors
•    Working with the Senior Doctors to establish management and performance goals that support our strategy
•    Managing the Appraisal program for all medical staff in the Carnival UK fleet. This includes auditing the appraisal processes and ensuring there are sufficient trained appraisers to run the program
•    Responding to any concerns affecting patient safety within the Carnival UK fleet
•    Providing oversight to the investigative process for concerns affecting any doctor within the Carnival UK fleet, acting as the Lead Case Investigator where appropriate
•    Regularly reviewing the "Responding to Concerns" processes to reflect current national practice
•    Ensuring the outcomes of all concerns raised regarding the clinical service provided by Carnival UK are regularly audited

About You
You may have worked at sea, perhaps within a Naval based Medical position dealing with a remote workforce, or within a shore based medical leadership position. You will be able to gain a good understanding of the Fleet operation in order to best support healthcare and public health practices onboard our vessels across the P&O and Cunard fleet.
We are looking for someone who:

•    Is a Medical Doctor with clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice and Maritime Medicine
•    At the time of appointment, has been a medical practitioner throughout the previous 5 years. For this purpose ‘medical practitioner’ means a person who is fully registered under The Medical Profession (Responsible Officers) (Amendment) Regulations 2013
•    Holds a license to practice from the General Medical Council (GMC)
•    Has previous Medical leadership experience
