Exercise Referral Instructor - Across the Havering Contract

Competitive salary - 12 hours per week (possibility of extension)

Everyone Active is seeking a high calibre, enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Exercise Referral Instructor who will contribute to the provision and delivery of the Exercise Referral Scheme across our Havering sites. 

You will be responsible for motivating, advising and encouraging referred clients with varied medical conditions and abilities to participate in sports and physical activities. You will identify appropriate referrals, carry out assessments and follow up appointments, and design and implement safe and progressive personalised exercise programmes. You may also oversee/deliver exercise sessions to referred clients including gym and group exercise sessions (dependent on qualifications).  

You will be responsible for tracking a client’s progress and following up non-attendance. So that the scheme can be monitored and evaluated effectively you will be competent in using IT and be able to use our in house iMAPCT database to enter client information. You will work closely with the Exercise Referral Administrator and Scheme Coordinator to ensure effective delivery, administration and promotion of the scheme.

If you hold a REPS accredited Level 4 Cardiac Rehab (desirable) or other Level 4 qualification, there may also be opportunities to support the delivery of additional referral pathways.

The Role Requires:

  • Level 3 Exercise Referral Qualification and a minimum Level 2 Gym Instructor Qualification (REPS accredited)
  •  Understanding of current Exercise Referral and NICE guidance (desirable)
  • Experience of delivering one to one appointments and writing gym based exercise programmes
  • Ability to write exercise programmes for people with medical conditions, understanding their needs and demonstrating empathy
  •  Ability to provide motivation and support making clients visit enjoyable and keep them coming back
  • Good IT skills and the ability to follow processes and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; promoting equality and diversity
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality, data security, and information governance compliance
  • Ability to work independently and manage own work load; ability to work effectively and supportively as a team member 

This role requires travel between sites across Havering.
