Senior Marketing Manager - Social Programming - Stamford Bridge

Reporting to: Head of Product & Performance Marketing

Job function: To lead the delivery, implementation & Management of the Global social media strategy outside Match day. Responsible for day to day programming and implementation of best in class social media content campaigns, utilizing technical skills and expert knowledge of social media channels, tools, and trends to ensure all strategic deliverables are met.

Main responsibilities:

  • To lead the delivery, implementation & management of the global social media strategy outside match day.
  • In collaboration with the global fan engagement, communications, partnership and brand teams, maximise opportunities to promote Chelsea’s key engagement activations through social media channels to promote, grow and support our overarching fan growth strategy
  • Co-manage external social media and content production agencies to deliver best in class, innovative social media campaigns within budget.
  • Provide specialist advice on reputational impact of key decisions and present strategic options.
  • Monitor, maintain and strengthen consistent online brand identity 
  • Manage the social and community component of non-match day digital activation campaigns
  • Develop & oversee the integrated social media calendar, defining and managing social campaigns, content distribution and community management.
  • Close cross-functional stakeholder management and collaboration with Chelsea FC Communications team for 360 social delivery and management.
  • Lead and develop the social programming team to build internal capacity and expertise.
  • Manage paid social media activity to drive conversion and meet commercial business objectives.
  • Manage efforts in building online reviews and reputation. Monitor online reviews and develop social listening strategy.
  • Analyse key metrics and revise strategy as an ongoing concern
  • Compile reports for key stakeholders showing results for all content plans to include SMART goals
  • Work with internal insights team to build baseline data for content development
  • Monitor trends in social media
  • Conduct consistent competitor analysis across social content channels

  • Successfully influence and uplift in social media engagement
  • Successful management of content distribution
  • Effective channel management
  • Evidence of commercial conversations from campaigns

Person Specification:

  • A seasoned social media management expert
  • Passionate and data driven individual.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective consumers (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat.) and how each platform can be deployed to achieve conversion and meet KPI’s.
  • Proficient in content marketing theory and application.
  • A team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees where necessary (ie: content development, creation and editing of content, social planning and online reputation management).
  • Is an incredibly fast learner who is innovative and willing to develop actionable solutions
  • Has the unique overlapping skillset of thinking creatively and analytically
  • Able to articulate and influence strategic decisions
