The Shard

Taking inspiration from the spires of London churches and the masts of tall ships depicted by the 18th century Venetian painter Canaletto, Renzo Piano designed The Shard as a spire-like sculpture emerging from River Thames. Job summary

At Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London, you will play an active role in leading and supporting our entire hotel operation. As the Director of Human Resources of such an iconic property, you will be the magic thread that links the business together to deliver on our ambitious people and business plan. You will partner with various stakeholders internally and externally to achieve our strategic company goals. A large part of the role is being a trusted confidante within the Executive team, you will closely partner together to achieve overall hotel goals in line with the mission and vision of the Company.

As can be expected, you will create the Human Resources strategy and deliver on people initiatives and projects including colleague engagement, colleague relations, talent attraction and retention by ensuring we have a great employer reputation and brand positioning in the market, offer robust and modern learning and development opportunities for our colleagues to further develop, fabulous benefits, and a robust Corporate Social Responsibility plan. You will be required to solve practical problems on a daily basis and have the foresight to always plan proactively and creatively.

Our ideal leader will be a clear and confident communicator and influencer, be empathetic and have a high emotional intelligence. It is important that you are friendly, approachable and truly live and breathe our Shangri-La core values. You will possess a strong financial acumen and excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and the UK local market (this is non-negotiable). Ideally, you will come from a hospitality or similar industry, and have a minimum of three years at a Human Resources Manager level.
