Alexandra Palace is an historic entertainment venue in North London. The Catering Concessions Manager is responsible for overseeing catering concessions across Alexandra Park and Palace and ensuring that all operational aspects are delivered to the highest standard. 

You will have a strong background in catering operations with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach. In return Alexandra Palace offers a generous benefits package including 28 days annual leave.

This is a full time role working 48 hours per week for a fixed term of 12 months.

Key duties and responsibilities

  1. To program, secure and oversee all catering concessions and street food vendors at Alexandra Palace events
  2. Oversee the Ice Cafe and East Court catering operations managing resources effectively to deliver excellent customer service
  3. Work with the sales and events teams to liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to understand the look and feel of each retail event in order to deliver a quality service and profitable operation
  4. Work with commercial teams to ensure that financial sales, costs and profit targets are met, monitoring budgets and completing monthly financial reporting
  5. Monitor stock and order retail drink & disposables stocks as required to meet operational demand maintaining consistent service delivery.
  6. To ensure that the Catering Department, concessions and vendors comply with all statutory and legal requirements including Health & Safety and Licensing.

Person specification

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with English and Maths
  • Personal liquor license
  • Food hygiene level 2
  • Minimum of two years’ Experience managing catering concessions preferably within a similar large event environment.
  • Budget management experience with knowledge of profit and loss accounts
  • Experience monitoring stock and using a stock control system
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers, vendors and catering concessions
  • Experience managing and motivating a team
  • Good communication skills with the ability to give clear instruction
  • Good written communication with attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent numerical skills with ability to interpret financial data
  • Interest in and awareness of current industry trends, specifically around street food and event catering
  • Collaborative approach

  • Available to work a flexible shift pattern including some weekends, evenings and bank holidays

Desirable

  • Food hygiene level 4
  • COSHH
  • Experience training and developing staff including delivering in-house training
  • Experience working as part of a senior management team
  • Knowledge of Alexandra Palace’s operations and events
  • Knowledge of catering / stock management / point of sale software, for example Saffron
