Leisure Assistant Apprentice

 

Location: Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre, Alcester Rd S, Kings Heath, Birmingham B14 6ER

 

Salary: £8,424 per annum (40 hrs @ £4.05 per hour)

 

Working Week

40 hours per week, Working 5 out of 7 days, approx. 8 hr day, on a 3 week rota to include some weekend working. 

Early shifts start at 7am and late shifts finish at 10pm. Weekend early shifts start at 8am and late shifts finish at 6pm.

 

Brief Overview

You will work within the centre ensuring customer safety and high standards of service and customer care at all times.  The role will involve supervision of specific activities, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and the safe handling and set up of equipment within the Sport England Contract.

Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT, as required

 

No College attendance required. 

 

We will provide the successful candidate with their National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) as part of the training.

 

Expected Apprenticeship - 13 months minimum

Principal duties include:

  • Providing support to the Duty Manager in the day to day operations of the facility.
  • Provide supervision of facilities and activities to ensure customer safety at all times.
  • Ensure all equipment is set up in order to meet the needs of the programmed activities and events.
  • Undertake cleaning tasks as required to ensure the centre is well presented and monitor standards of cleanliness in customer critical areas.
  • Monitor customer use around the centre and ensure unsafe practices are promptly dealt with or reported as appropriate.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service at all times.
  • Maintain a full product knowledge of the services and activities available at the centre.
  • Attend training sessions in order to demonstrate competency and maintain valid qualifications.
  • Consistently and actively apply good housekeeping principles, such as turning off lights and equipment when not in use, in order to contribute to our strategy to reduce utility consumption and carbon footprint.
  • Undertake any other duties as required within the Centre as directed by your line manager.

Experience of working in a similar environment would be an advantage but not essential.

 

A full driving license is also desirable but not essential as some travel may be required between sites within the contract.

We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic, reliable, determined and hardworking and who is happy to constantly learn and develop new skills with an interest in the Leisure Industry.

 

Desired qualifications

 

GCSEs Grades A to E in Maths, English and ICT (or acceptable equivalent).

 

You will also need to complete an on-line initial assessment, which will help us guide you to the most appropriate programme to meet your needs.

It is essential that you are able to travel daily to Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre to arrive on time for work.

 

You will be required to undergo security checks, which includes a check of criminal records.
