K west Hotel & Spa, the trendy 4 star deluxe hotel in Shepherds Bush is currently searching for a proactive & driven Sous Chef to join the Kitchen Team. With 220 rooms, 4 meeting rooms, a holistic spa, fitness club and DJ in the bar on Friday and Saturday nights our Hotel is always buzzing with energy!

K West Hotel and Spa was purchased in 2000, completely renovated and repositioned. It has built a reputation for contemporary design, extra large bedrooms and a “Vibe” that appeals to the younger corporate markets particularly in the entertainment industry and with a clientele aged between 25 to 40 years old.

THE ROLE:

  • To lead and inspire the Kitchen team preparing, creating, training and delivering fresh, interesting and commercial food choices.
  • To supervise the food production process and to provide assistance where and when necessary to ensure that the laid down departmental standards relating to quality, presentation and portion are achieved.
  • To ensure that all the required equipment, supplies and resources are to hand and in good working order.
  • To deal with any special requirements as and when they arise.
  • To reconcile deliveries on arrival from the stores and main kitchen.
  • To support the Head Chef on the staff training, taking an active interest in the welfare, safety and development of the staff, as well as maintaining
  • Attend any meetings and training sessions as required by management
  • To take charge of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
  • To assist the Head Chef in the development of new dishes together with recipes which should be recorded
  • To maintain a professional level of discipline within the kitchen.
  • To regularly strive to improve product
  • To ensure the quality and presentation of food is in accordance with the dish specification at all times
  • To balance the need for financial control with the need for quality
  • To be continuously aware of current and forecasted business levels and plans accordingly
  • To regularly source and develop new products applicable to local marketplace

ABOUT YOU:

  • A minimum of 2 years Sous Chef experience or above
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene
  • Comfortable with excel, word & power point systems
  • Good communication skills, with guest and colleagues alike
  • Confident decision maker with a “can do” attitude
  • Motivated and proactive individual and capable of maintaining a high level of motivation within the team
  • A role model able to keep calm, composed and friendly under pressure
  • Great knowledge of industry and keen to implement new and creative ideas
  • Committed to training and developing yourself and the team
  • Strict health and safety standards upholder

The Sous Chef will work with a dedicated and passionate Kitchen team and will report directly to the Executive Head Chef. You will be passionate about your work and have the desire and freedom to create a new product.
