Job role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our expanding buying team (category yet to be confirmed)

Working with the Head of Buying you will be responsible for sourcing, developing and buying strategically for the department, delivering a commercial range that maximises sales and profit opportunities.

You will support the Head of Buying with delivering the departmental sourcing plan, optimising the best route for product in line with the business area strategy (in conjunction with Design Team, Merchandiser and technology) as well as negotiating with the departmental supplier base to deliver better values, cost prices and lead time.

What skills and experience will you need ?

•Significant experience in a fast-paced Buying role at Buyer level

•Passion for product

•Speed to market – reacting to new trends as quickly as possible

•Knowledge of all the elements that make up the cost of a product

•Understanding of supply chain issues / cost – (e.g. product lead times/ flexibility/ supplier capability)

•Skilled negotiation techniques

•Ability to develop and build a comprehensive product range

•Developing and implementing departmental and Business strategy

•Understanding of packaging and presentation of a product

•Understanding of our brand and sub-brand strategy

•Understanding launch plans, phasing and sale dates

•Ability to put together a comprehensive and clear design brief (in conjunction with designer and QA)

•Ability to review sales data

•Interpersonal / communication skills

•Experience of line management, motivating and developing a team

•Ability to initiate and build strong relationships with Design, Merchandising and QA

•Influencing skills

•Organisational skills
