Location: The National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, NG12 2LU

Working Hours: 30hrs between Mon - Sun, 6 month contract

Salary: £9.15 per hour

Holme Pierrepont Country Park is home to the National Water Sports Centre in Nottinghamshire, one of the UK`s premier sporting venues and outdoor leisure attractions. With excellent water facilities, accommodation, a campsite, Family Fun Park, Life Fitness Gym and marvellous nature trails for cycling and walking, Holme Pierrepont Country Park is a favourite destination for families, schools, corporate companies and individuals.

We are looking for Senior Raft Guides to deliver white water rafting sessions and operate the outdoor activity centre.  Providing customers with a safe and adventurous experience

Holme Pierrepont is a National Country Park which is home to the National Water Sports Centre. The centre boasts lagoons (including inflatable Wipe-out) and lakes that host extensive water activities,  2 gyms and fitness studio, glamping, adventure courses, hotel rooms and wedding and conferencing facilities.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is outgoing and has a friendly manner
  • Has high standards of personal presentation
  • Is a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is Self motivated and organised

What’s involved?

  • Responsible for checking equipment required for  sessions
  • Responsible for ensuring customer safety
  • Responsible for delivering prepared safety brief and session in accordance with the raft guide code of practice amongst others
  • Responsible for providing bank safety support
  • Carry out repairs to the rafts to ensure they remain serviceable
  • To check the slalom course for debris and rubbish and to assist to keep the slalom site clean and tidy
  • To lead by example and set a high level of safety and professionalism
  • Providing excellent customer experiences
  • Take the lead guide position in the absence of the Head Guide and take a lead on the management of some aspects of white water delivery.
  • Perform ad hoc operational duties such as maintenance, reception, bookings and cleaning
  • To supervise the outdoor activity area

What’s essential?

  • Experience of delivering rafting sessions to members of the public as either bank safety or raft guide.
  • Experience of dealing with emergencies on the water
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment
  • Puts into practice the Council’s commitment to excellent customer care
  • Works efficiently and effectively and actively looks for ways of improving services and outcomes for customers
  • Confident open water swimmer

Qualification Level

  • Minimum Level 1 Raft Guide (National Water Sports Centre Site Specific)
  • Minimum 8 Hour First Aid
  • British Canoeing membership
