Deputy Manager - The Castle Inn, West Lulworth

In 1978 we shut out the world and made beer. At that time, no one was risking it all starting a traditional brewery, making simple, premium, easy-drinking ale. To do so was an act of defiance. Or madness. Fast forward to today and we’re holding fast to our values and heading off on another exciting journey. This time we’re defying convention by significantly expanding and investing in our diverse and distinctive collection of pubs and inns, with everything from bustling high-street pubs, cosy country inns and beautiful boutique hotels across the south and west of England.

The Castle Inn is a traditional 16th Century thatched pub and inn. Situated near the beautiful Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door on the Jurassic coastline and surrounded by the Isle of Purbeck countryside, it is the perfect spot to start or finish a great walk along the South West coast path.

The Castle Inn is undergoing a transformational refurbishment in 2018, opening before Easter, complete with 12 beautifully restored boutique bedrooms, welcoming new bar and restaurant, but still with all the charm of a “home from home” local pub.

As a Butcombe Deputy Manager, you will be an integral part of your business running the operation in the General Mangers absence. Working very closely with the General Manager evolving and delivering one of the best offers around. When it comes down to it, you will be helping to lead a team that are all about making memories by delivering great food, fantastic drinks and an unrivalled guest experience. You will:

  • Deliver some of the best food and drink in the industry
  • Innovate, create and develop your pub with your General manager.
  • Recruit & develop a fantastic team whilst continually developing yourself.
  • Have a keen eye for business performance and sound business skills ready to be further developed.
  • Be hungry for the knowledge that will turn you from a great operator into a superb future General Manager.

You will also be great with people and looking for every opportunity to create unforgettable memories for your guests. A great team motivator with strong leadership abilities. Ideally you’ll have managed house pub experience as a Supervisor but this is not essential, we’re much more interested in you than what it says on your CV. You love your job and take great pride in your successes.

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • 20% off food and drink in all Butcombe managed houses
  • Special team rates when you stay in a Butcombe Hotel or Inn
  • Unrivalled opportunity for progression and development within the group
  • Dedicated training and career progression
  • Mentorship from experienced industry professionals
  • Butcombe Futures Academy – industry recognised and accredited training
