Asda is recruiting for a talented Enterprise Architect with a retail background to support a large systems transformation programme within the George business unit. Our Enterprise Architects are responsible for shaping and roadmapping our Technology solutions for specific business areas. In this role, you'll be working on a large multi-year SAP programme to simplify the legacy systems estate as well as introducing new technology to optimise key business processes. It's an exciting opportunity to work closely with strategic partners and Walmart International teams in Bentonville and India.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the definition and development of coherent, agreed and usable technology roadmaps to meet our business strategy, and service requirements, including the identification of gaps and migration/mitigation plans to get to the desired end state
  • Identification of candidate and best fit solutions for the future-state architecture, being mindful of the principles around when to use local solutions versus global solutions
  • 'Skin in the game' - Supporting the SA team and wider Technology community in project initiation and design activities. Working together to resolving key issues, and taking responsibility for the overall architecture of key strategic initiatives
  • Working with Walmart counterparts to ensure that our requirements are fed into the overall roadmaps, that we understand US roadmaps, and that the US understand and agrees to any variations in our roadmaps
  • Promoting and communicating Enterprise Architecture - its processes, outcomes and artefacts to the wider organization, ensuring we are driving the most value from this function
  • Driving best practice (efficiency, standardisation, supportability, security, policy adherence etc..) into our Architecture, and ensuring we are compliant with technology and data requirements and standards
  • Analysing technology, industry and market trends. Determining technology opportunities and threats, and their potential impact on our Enterprise Architecture.
  • Formal or informal mentoring of the SA team
  • Driving a positive change environment and culture of diversity and inclusion

What you'll need:
  • Ability to create Technology plans that can be (and are subsequently) delivered against.
  • Ability to create clarity from complexity and to articulate information in a logical way
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills
  • A history of forging productive relationships with colleagues across Technology and Business teams
  • Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs
  • A proven track record in a similar role in a complex retail business.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate at a global level demonstrating strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Desired Qualifications / Experience
  • Relevant Bachelors / Masters + relevant commercial experience OR 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Apparel / Clothing experience an advantage
  • SAP IS-Retail experience an advantage
