Senior Digital Analyst - London

Reporting to:   Research & Insight Manager

Department:    Business Analytics

Job Function:   As a key part of the Business Analytics team at Chelsea FC, the Senior Digital Analyst is responsible for all digital analytics and insight, focusing primarily on analysis to support new and existing partnerships and drive commercial revenue. In addition, they will plan digital analytics strategy and provide analysis to support other business functions with support from the Digital Analyst.

Main Responsibilities:

Work with the commercial team to:

  • Provide campaign analysis to support marketing campaigns undertaken with existing partners and support the creation of case studies
  • Support in campaign planning for existing partners, providing insights and making recommendations
  • Provide analysis on the profile and behaviour of Chelsea FCs user base to support the acquisition of new partners
  • Use benchmarking tools to support the acquisition of new partners, including competitor analysis and industry analysis
  • Explore new analysis tools to increase the clubs’ commercial insight capabilities
  • Ensure analytics tracking is available to support any commercial analysis
  • Oversee analytics projects across other business areas, working with Digital Analyst to ensure delivery of analysis and stakeholder support
  • Work with Digital Analyst to encourage a self-sufficient data-driven culture, through educating stakeholders on digital analytics and empowering them to use insights
  • Use forecasting techniques to project KPIs including scenario planning
  • Plan analytics strategy and long term data analysis projects

  • Website analysis tools (Adobe preferred)
  • Social media analysis tools
  • Benchmarking analysis tools (comScore, Nielsen, Social Bakers, Sprinklr)
  • Database analysis tools (Fast Stats preferred)
  • Data visualisation tools (Tableau preferred)
  • Experience with social listening tool a bonus
  • Microsoft Excel – advanced

Measures of performance:

  • Accuracy of data analysis and reporting
  • Projects delivered on time
  • Depth of understanding of Chelsea Football Club’s consumer base
  • Stakeholder understanding of insights delivered
  • Improvements in efficiency of ways of working

Person Spec:

  • You will have vast experience in analytics with a commercial focus, have a passion for using data in creative ways, while able to deliver insights concisely in a suitable format for the audience. A logical approach to problem solving will be key to the success of this role as will the ability to exploit analytics for commercial gain.
  • Educated to at least degree level (Computer Science, Maths, IT, Business, Engineering preferred)
  • Proven experience in digital analyst/commercial analyst role (within Sport preferred)
  • An eye for detail and quality 
  • Well-developed numeracy skills and an aptitude for problem solving
  • Good multi-tasking, prioritising, organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both internally and externally
  • Able to work alone or within a team
  • Willing to learn
  • Proactive
  • Self-motivated
