Data Analyst - London

Reporting to: Senior Data Analyst & Research & Insight Manager

Department: Research & Insight

Job function:   A key part of the Research & Insight team at Chelsea Football Club, the Data Analyst will support the Senior Data Analyst in providing insight and managing the analytics for the Single Customer View database. The role focuses on deriving actionable consumer insight for marketing, sponsorship and business planning from a wide range of data sources (transactional, behavioural and demographic).

Reporting to the Senior Data Analyst but will work closely with other teams, stakeholders & external suppliers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Consumer database profiling e.g. comparison profile of members vs season ticket holders
  • Data analysis, including univariate and multivariate techniques
  • Undertaking adhoc projects and queries
  • Regular reporting on Marketing KPIs via reports and dashboards
  • Post-campaign analysis for all major CRM and Marketing campaigns
  • Assist in managing integrity, quality and strategic development of Chelsea FC’s database
  • Perform data queries and campaign extractions
  • Deeper dives into data anomalies to avoid discrepancies between different data sources
  • Working with external agencies to brief requests for additional data e.g. TGI, Ocean data etc.
  • Providing relevant and compelling data to support Sponsorship presentations from a range of different data sources
  • You will be reactive and proactive in equal measures, and have the ability to assimilate information quickly.  A logical approach to problem solving and an awareness of data will be key to the success of this role. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail skills.

  • FastStats & Excelsior
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Tableau
  • SQL Manager Lite

Measures of Performance:

  • Accuracy of data analysis and reporting
  • Projects delivered on time
  • Depth of understanding of Chelsea Football Club’s consumer base
  • Stakeholder understanding of insights delivered
  • Improvements in efficiency of ways of working e.g. automating dashboards

Person spec:

We expect the candidate to demonstrate the following characteristics:-

  • Circa 1-2 years’ experience in a CRM/Marketing focused analytics role
  • Educated to at least degree level, numeric degree preferable
  • An eye for detail and quality
  • Well-developed numeracy skills and an aptitude for problem solving
  • Good multi-tasking, prioritising, organisation and planning skills
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain data and insights to non-technical audiences

Desirable

  • Understanding and experience of using FastStats would be an advantage
  • Previous experience working with a Single Customer View database
  • Dashboard and report creation, experience with Tableau preferable
