Working as part of the Trading Development team, this role will act as a conduit between the trading department's technological needs and the internal and external development resource. The role will require the communication and prioritisation of development work from its inception, gathering/writing requirements, refinement, and managing its priority in the Trading backlog to post development, coordinating UAT and representing any production deployment with internal change advisory boards.

The team also has internal development resource and their workload will be tracked in JIRA in a board that will be managed by this role working closely with the management of this team (Head of Trading Development, Trading Development Manager and Quantitative Analyst Manager). The Trading Development Product Owner will need to ensure any external dependencies on our team are met while also ensuring internal objectives are achieved. You will run internal stand-ups and attend others around the business, feeding back progress on all of the above to the Head of Trading Development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Understand the end to end Agile process and the business involvement in driving this through to delivery, with support from Head of TD.
  • Work closely with Head of Trading Development by acting as a Product Owner to some of the streams we are working within.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of systems and a clear understanding of Trading requirements to deliver.
  • Run the defect triage for Trading Development working with Support teams.
  • Represent the Trading dept in CAB having an understanding of what technical releases could impact trading and then challenge where necessary, identifying less impactful windows for releases and ensure comms get picked up thereafter with Trading Support.
  • Clearly articulate the trading development's requirements with internal and/or external development teams.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensure department heads are prioritising their development lists and ensure the overall backlog is updated to reflect any changes.
  • Communicate scheduled releases to wider trading group to allow sufficient lead time to change trading schedules.
  • Maintain internal JIRA board ensuring efficient Run's the defect triage for TD working with Support teams, while also feeding into other teams Jira boards where appropriate.
  • Manage defect triage work-flow, ensuring raised defects are following laid out process and any RCA's that fall on Trading Development are picked up inside SLA's.
  • Ensure management is kept updated on progress of development sprints and the important items within those sprints.

Specialist Skills and Experience Required:
  • Previous experience working within an agile environment, Scrum specifically.
  • Previous experience working within the gaming sector, preferably with strong links to a sports trading department.
  • Product Owner qualifications (Prince, Scrum Alliance etc) are desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience using JIRA.
  • An understanding of bookmaking, odds and the different markets and sports on offer as well as having a real passion for sports.
  • Highly motivated and organised.
  • Key communicator to all areas of the business both internal and external.
