We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, skilled and enthusiastic Echocardiographer to join our busy and expanding Cardiology department at the Nuffield Leeds Hospital on a part time basis. The job will involve leading and developing the Echocardiography service within the hospital alongside the Clinical Lead and Cardiologists, through development and implementation of new evidence based techniques and guidelines, and through the development of a robust auditing and QA process for this specialist area.

Our outpatient department provides Cardiology services to a number of outpatients, inpatients and surgical patients. We also work closely with our dedicated Interventional Suite team and cardiothoracic surgical team. The hospital performs around 170 interventional Cases a year including PCI, Complex device Implants and PFO closures - a number of which require Echocardiography support both routinely and acutely. The hospital also performs around 300 Cardiothoracic surgery cases a year, of which we provide Echocardiography support where required, and the post holder will be expected to participate in the departmental oncall rota to facilitate this.

The successful applicant will be working alongside our team of Physiologists in assisting with the day to day workload which includes:

ECGs
Physiologist-led exercise testing
Ambulatory BP Monitoring
Ambulatory ECG monitoring and Analysis
Basic Spirometry
Echocardiography including Stress Echocardiography.
TOE in isolation or with PFO closure.
Basic Cardiac Angiography.The ideal applicant should hold BSE accreditation or be working towards this, and have previously held a minimum of band 6 or equivalent post in this area. They must also be confident and competent in autonomously producing Echocardiography reports in line with BSE guidelines. Experience in specialist Echocardiography services such as Stress Echocardiography and TOE is essential, paediatric and congenital experience would be an advantage also. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is evidence of continued professional development. The successful candidate will have a BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent (HNC/ONC) and be registered with the RCCP.

Hours: 20-24 per week

Salary: Equivalent to an NHS band 7 and dependent upon experience
