Duty Manager - Stratford
GLL makes community services and spaces better for everyone. And it’s about more than just money. Our people invest time, energy and effort into helping and improving communities through the services we offer - and with great results. Through “Better” we provide leisure centres, children’s services, spas, libraries, extreme spots, event spaces and standalone gyms.
GLL is looking for a Duty Manager based at the London Aquatics Centre (LAC), set in the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London.
Building on our continued growth, we're now the UK's largest leisure social enterprise - and set for even greater success. So, if you have the talent and ambition to be a Duty Manager, there's never been a more exciting time to progress with a sector leader. This is more than a Duty Manager role - it's a career. Ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of a leisure centre, you'll ensure the health, safety and enjoyment of customers and colleagues alike.
We're looking for experienced Duty Managers or ambitious and talented Senior Recreation Assistants who are passionate about the leisure industry. So, if you're looking for a desk job, this isn't for you - as there's no such thing as a typical day as Duty Manager. That's what makes the role so special. Here, you could be doing anything from unlocking the leisure centre and setting up, to ordering supplies and checking everything is perfect for your customers. Then, once the day is in full swing, you'll ensure it's all running as it should be - handling customer queries, managing your team and ensuring the successful operation of the gym, pool and other facilities. Your own development is just as important, as we'll train you to sharpen your skills in this diverse Duty Manager role.
If you're a fast-thinker who's calm under pressure, responsible and a natural with people from all walks of life, this is your chance to progress as a Duty Manager. We also look for integrity, a can-do attitude, health and safety knowledge, and a customer service focus, combined with relevant professional qualifications such as NPLQ, First Aid, Fitness Instructor and Pool Plant, or equivalent. From introducing a table tennis club and supporting disabled groups, to organising charity swimathons with celebrity guests, we've introduced all sorts of initiatives. So, if you've an idea and the drive to improve things even further, we'll listen.
In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:
- Childcare vouchers
- Ride to work scheme
- Discounted membership at our leisure centres
- The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we're run plus associated social events
- Career pathways
- Ongoing training and development

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications, age and location.
To be shortlisted for the role, internal applicants will need to demonstrate their commitment to GLL by becoming a Society member where eligible.
