A vacancy has arisen in a beautiful Proper Pub located in the village of Skipton just on the edge of the peak district.

Both popular with locals and also a destination for tourists and visitors this venue would be perfect for a manager who wants to be the centre of the local community but also has the ability to run a chameleon venue which trades from breakfast right through to a high energy DJ led weekend. Bags of potential to build on what is already a solid base and this site is also due to undergo substantial refurbishment.

The Black Horse is a lovely traditional fronted proper pub which sits on the high street in the market town of Skipton in North Yorkshire. It is a Grade 2 listed building with frontage built in the 15th century. The site has a small bar at the front end of the premises which has a real traditional and appeals to regular drinkers and visitors looking for a great coffee or a pint of ale. The site then spans out substantially with a further bar area and large area for dining and socialising. A dance floor caters to a higher energy Friday/Saturday night, and a small terrace beer garden at the rear mean this venue is already popular all day and in all seasons, a perfect spot to relax with a drink and breathe in the fresh country air.

The site also has a very large function room on the second floor which hosts regular tribute events as well as catering for weddings, christenings and many other occasions and can accommodate 190 people.

The successful applicant will have experience of running a similar style venue and be able to demonstrate the ability to drive sales in a local community. Food experience is desired as well as the ability to manage a mixed customer profile of tourists as well as regular local trade.

Exceptional standards are expected with a real focus on service.

This business really needs a “mein host” style manager who leads from the front and can get involved in the local community but also think out of the box to cater for a broad customer base in a very adaptable business.
