Commis Chef - Hipping Hall, Kirkby

Hipping Hall is a three AA Rosetted Restaurant with Rooms, located in Cowan Bridge near Kirkby Lonsdale, and was recently named the Best Hotel Restaurant in England by the Food Awards England.

Head Chef Oli Martin’s modern British cooking style and creative techniques are inspired by his love of local produce, which he sources from across Lancashire, Cumbria and Yorkshire.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Commis Chef who we anticipate will have worked in a similar role within the hospitality industry. You will be a team player, have excellent communication skills and attention to detail to deliver outstanding quality and service.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a renowned restaurant and be part of one of the North of England’s most exciting restaurants.

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • To assist the kitchen brigade in the preparation and cooking of the daily menu
  • To ensure the company’s reputation for food quality is maintained always
  • Opportunity to work across all sections in the kitchen
  • Working to a high standard
  • Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
  • Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
  • Foraging and working in the kitchen garden

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have worked to a high standard previously
  • Have at least two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations & relevant legislation
