Crèche and Activities Assistant - Cameron House Resort, Alexandria

Casual, will include weekends and bank holidays, NMW/NLW

Variable shift pattern of 8am to 6pm: 1pm to 9pm (shifts are subject to change in line with business needs

Cameron House is a luxury five-star hotel located on the South West Shores of Loch Lomond. Set in picturesque surroundings, this stunning Scottish Baronial Mansion is at the heart of Cameron House Resort and boasts 136 bedrooms and suite, an in house family friendly leisure club and childcare facilities. Throughout the resort we offer an impressive range of dining experiences as well as an array of world class facilities including an award winning 17 treatment room Spa with infinity pool, championship standard Golf courses and Marina facilities including our own 42ft luxury cruiser Celtic Warrior.

Here at Cameron House our Crèche provides an area where kids can enjoy arts and crafts, activities and dressing up whilst their parents can have peace of mind knowing they are being cared for by qualified nursery staff. As a Crèche and Activities Assistant you will be responsible for the care of children aged 6 weeks to primary school age. You will help provide a friendly, knowledgeable and professional childcare service offering safe and educational based activities, as well as changing nappies, feeding and safe play.

You will also help to make sure the crèche is kept clean and well maintained, and fully compliant with legislative requirements. Your duties will include (but not limited to) the following;

  • Motivating and stimulating children's learning abilities, often encouraging learning through experience
  • Organising learning materials and resources and making imaginative use of resources
  • Encouraging children's mathematical and creative development through stories, songs, games, drawing and imaginative play
  • Working with others to plan and coordinate work both indoors and outdoors;
  • Observing, assessing and recording each child's progress where applicable  
  • Attending  training sessions as required
  • Ensuring the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the crèche
  • Keeping up to date with changes in the curriculum and developments in best practice
  • Following all in house policies and procedures in line with local and national legislation

Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications Required

Essential;

  • HNC in Early Years Childcare and Education (or equivalent)
  • Registered with the PVG group
  • SSSC registered
  • *Must have knowledge and experience of the following legislation and curricular material:
  • National Care Standards
  • Child at Centre
  • SSSC Codes of Practice
  • GIRFEC
  • Pre Birth to Three
  • Curriculum for Excellence
  • Desirable Certificates, although training can be provided:
  • Food Safety
  • Infection Control
  • First Aid
  • Cot Death
