Duty Manager - Rochester


Kings Rochester Sports Centre is a dual use facility ran for the local community in partnership with the Kings School Rochester.  The facilities include a large Sports Hall, Seven Tennis Courts, a Gym and Functional Fitness Studio and a Bar & Function room.

Primary purpose of job:    

Reporting to the Centre Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for day to day operation of the centre including health and safety, customer care, financial procedures and managing a small team.  The post includes evenings and weekend working 40 hours per week on a rota basis.  You will perform gym inductions & teach exercise classes on a regular basis when on shift.

Person Specification:    

We are seeking a duty manager to join the team who is truly enthusiastic about health and fitness.  You will have an excellent understanding of the customer experience and how your role is vital to guaranteeing this.  You will be able to work autonomously towards pre-defined goals and lead by example with your motivation towards achieving these goals.   We are looking for someone who can recognise opportunities and develop key areas of the business to maximise local community usage.


  • Hold at least a Level 2 Fitness Qualification (REPs accredited)
  • GCSE in English and Maths (or equivalent)


  • Sports Coaching Qualification (Tennis, or other recognised sport)
  • Exercise to Music Qualified
  • Level 3 Personal Trainer Qualification
  • First Aid at Work certificate


  • Previous experience in a Sports Centre (or related customer industry)
  • Understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH
  • Use of IT systems including Excel and Word.


  • First Aid Qualification
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience working in a catering facility
  • Experience working in a sales environment
