FAQs

I AM A UK PASSPORT HOLDER, CAN I APPLY?

Following the UK’s departure from the EU, UK workers no longer have the automatic right to work in Greece and as such we are unable to offer employment across all positions to UK only passport holders.

There are a small number of roles for which we will accept UK only passport holders and these applicants, if successful, will need to obtain a visa, with our help. These roles include those in water sports, childcare, tennis and spa.

We continue to welcome applications from EU passport holders, including those with dual nationality.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO TO OBTAIN A VISA?

Some positions are open to UK passport holders and successful applicants will need to apply for a visa. We have some work to do with each application and you will be required to:

  • Attend an in-person medical examination in London, Manchester or Edinburgh, which will involve a blood test and a chest x-ray.

  • Complete an ACRO criminal record check or Enhanced DBS Check.

  • Ensure you have a valid EHIC or GHIC card.

  • Attend an in-person interview at the Global Visa Centre in London, Manchester or Edinburgh.

Please also note that there are some costs involved, which will be discussed during your interview, that will be expected to cover. Only on completion of your contract will these be reimbursed to you.

YOU ARE NOT OFFERING THE POSITION I AM APPLYING FOR TO UK PASSPORT HOLDERS, CAN I GET MY OWN VISA?

At present we are only able to support visa applications for a limited number of roles and it is not possible to apply for your own visa without a local sponsor.

Australian Citizens, aged 18-31, may be eligible for a working holiday visa under the Youth Mobility Scheme. More information can be found on the Greece in Australia website here.

Canadian Citizens, aged 18-35 may also be eligible under the same scheme. More information can be found on the Greece in Canada website here.

I HAVE AN EU PASSPORT, DO I NEED ANY FURTHER DOCUMENTATION?

If you have an EU passport holder and are a UK resident, with a UK National Insurance Number, no further documentation is required.

If you have an EU passport holder and are an Irish citizen, with a PRSI Number and have been working in Ireland recently, no further documentation is required.

If you are an EU passport holder, residing outside of the UK and Ireland then we will need a certified copy of your birth certificate in order to register you for employment in Greece. This does not need to be produced until after an offer has been accepted. If your birth certificate was issued in a country outside of the EU then you will need to provide us with an apostilled copy of this.

In all cases you will be asked to provide us with evidence of eligibility to work in the EU (and UK where necessary) during the application process.

HOW DO I GET TO THE PELIGONI CLUB?

We will arrange your return travel to Zakynthos, from a major European city. We will always endeavour to fly you from the most convenient airport, however we will only book the most cost-effective options and you will have to make your own arrangements to reach the specified departure airport. If you are travelling from further afield, you will need to make your own arrangements for which you will receive a financial contribution.

Transport will be provided from the airport to the Club.

HOW LONG IS THE SEASON?

Our season runs from mid-May through to the beginning of November, with July and August being our peak period. If you’re coming to us for the whole season, you will fly out to Greece early-May for training and to get the club ready for our first guests arriving on 18th May. The club is open for 24 busy weeks with the last weeks being the UK October Half Term holidays.

After our last guests leave, it takes a few days to clean up and close down before you’ll be flying home with new friends and great memories and stories from what we hope was a fantastic season.

WHAT ARE THE WORKING HOURS?

Working hours vary depending on what position you are in. Typically, you will be expected to work between seven and nine hours a day with a combination of early starts, late finishes and split shifts, six days a week.

Please bear in mind we are in the service industry and as such you will be required to work longer hours from time to time to ensure we can always give our guests the best.

CAN I GO HOME DURING THE SEASON?

You can request holiday, however this cannot always be guaranteed. We are of course sympathetic in an emergency and will treat such cases on an individual basis.
