Woof, Woof! Great Pubs to Take Your Dog

Man’s best friend: he’s called that for a reason – and we say it’s because you rarely spend any time apart. And none so is that more apparent than at the weekend, when man and pooch head out for a long-awaited stroll and a visit to the pub.

Of course, by ‘pub’ we mean a cosy lunch by the fire while your four-legged friend catches some well-deserved shut-eye. We aren’t, after all, condoning you feed beer to your pooch...

But if pubs are a popular haunt of yours, we’ve found some of the best – which offer hotels, too – to take your beloved pet to. In Yorkshire alone, there’s a whole host of pubs and hotels your pooch will love – and we’re exploring a handful of the very best. Here goes…

The Robin Hood Inn, Hebden Bridge - With prices from just £50 per person, this B&B can be booked directly or via hotel comparison sites for a relaxed Yorkshire stay. A historic 17th century Inn, it’s been voted ‘Pub of the Year’ and offers real ales and tasty home-cooked meals.

More than that, though; it’s pet-friendly! Hooray for the fact you can bring your dog on your weekend holiday. Serving a wide range of Yorkshire real ales, the property was originally a coaching inn and still offers stunning views across the Pennines. Head here if you’re looking for somewhere to rest your head – the perfect venue, spotted amongst a host of other not-so-pet-friendly hotel breaks.

The Board Inn, Hawes – Another gem in Yorkshire, the relaxing and welcoming The Board Inn offers dog-friendly rooms to suit all budgets. You can also enjoy a cask ale and locally-sourced food, as well as free WiFi and a cosy bar with log fire and snug area – ah, bliss!

A traditional, family-run pub in the Yorkshire Dales, it can be found in the heart of Hawes with a wide range of walks right on its doorstep. Dogs will love roaming around the local countryside, while the accommodation is comfortable and clean. As far as dog-friendly hotel breaks go, you really can’t go wrong!

Plus, there’s so much to do in and around Hawes that you really will be spoiled for choice.

The Old Sun Hotel, Haworth - With rooms from just £60, The Old Sun Hotel in Haworth is another popular choice for those looking to take their dog along with them for a UK hotel break. Offering private parking and WiFi, there are only four en-suite rooms available here for families, couples and individuals, as well as an onsite restaurant should you find yourself fancying a hearty meal.

In a glorious location in the charming Yorkshire village of Haworth, The Old Sun is warm and welcoming and ideal following a brisk walk in the countryside with your pet. What’s more, guest rooms are comfortable and homely and include doubles, twins and family rooms. If you’re looking for somewhere cheap and within easy access of some of the county’s best attractions, you’re bound to love it here.
