Ah, Instagram! No one could have predicted quite how popular the photo sharing site would become – but it’s currently one of the most-used social networks.

The fact is, we’re all becoming a bit fed up with reading our daily updates via Facebook and Twitter feeds. We want our news fast – and if that means we see it in the form of photos, so be it.

And Instagram really is seeping into every aspect of our lives. We can view the latest fashion on the social network, see what others are having for dinner and even watch short clips of people’s gym instructor workouts. Which is really what this article’s about, actually.

So, who should you be following in the world of Instagram gym instruction? We’ll tell you…

Joe Wicks, AKA The Body Coach (@thebodycoach)With hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers, former personal trainer Joe Wicks has become so popular he’s brought out a cookery book featuring his recipes.

Of course, he has a fitness plan too – and while it’s a bit pricey it certainly works. It’s based on the fact that the body needs more carbs to ‘refuel’ following exercise – and it’s pretty revolutionary in that it’s less a diet and more an ‘eat loads and exercise it off’, but with short, sharp bursts of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

Head over to Joe’s Instagram account now and check out some of his amazing transformations. Or pick up some top tips for your own workout while you’re there. Move over gym instructor, Joe’s the only motivator you need!

Jen Selter (@jenselter) – Known to many for her perfectly pert derriere, Jen works hard at her physique – and it’s paid off. Head over to her Instagram page to see for yourself! She also posts plenty of motivational posts to ensure her legions of fans have the willpower they need to succeed on their own personal fitness journeys.

Only in her early 20s, Jen’s already amassed hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers – and it just shows doesn’t it; if you work hard at a fitness career, who knows where you’ll end up?

Kayla Itsines (@kayla_itsines) – It seems like ‘sisters are doing it for themselves’, with two out of three of our favourite gym instructors featured here in this piece being female.

Australia-based Kayla is another absolute favourite in the fitness industry, with her own workout programme and thousands of loyal fans.

She regularly hosts boot camp-style classes around the world, where masses of people show up just to be a part of a large fitness group – and, of course, meet Kayla herself – and she’s seriously healthy.

Head over to her Instagram page and be prepared to feel a little – actually, a lot – inadequate in the fitness stakes. It sure takes a lot of work to get that perfect lifeguard bod!
