Good afternoon dear readers, we’re back again with another restaurant review. I recently visited Aurora, based in Soho, London. Here’s a little bit more about them in their own words > “Our cuisine is Modern European with a monthly seasonal menu allowing us to make use of the finest ingredients available.”

The Review – Aurora I’d heard a lot about Aurora; some friends had visited on more than one occasion and gave the place a glowing recommendation. So the very next time myself and my friends were in Soho, we thought we’d stop in to make a reservation for the very same weekend. We weren’t disappointed!

Apparently, the restaurant’s been open since 1995, but I’ve only recently heard about it. The menus were quite extensive – something which makes a nice change, and there were plenty of options for even the fussiest eater.

We went for a bottle of white wine (Picpoul De Pinet, France) and it went perfectly with my main course. I opted for the smoked halibut on wholegrain mustard (from the Christmas menu) and it came with a delicious potato side salad. My friends went with the Fillet of Salmon on Sweet Potato Mash and Grilled Scottish Sirloin Steak respectively. Although we were jealous of the sirloin we were all happy with what we’d ordered.

Atmosphere-wise, Aurora was really relaxed. The staff were friendly and the service pretty good; food was brought out quickly and it was piping hot – perfect when it’s been so cold lately.

Prices were quite good too for London. Main courses were around the £16 mark, with some fancier stuff a little more expensive. All in all though, I reckon you could eat quite well here for under £50 each.

I’ll definitely be trying Aurora out again; next time I’ll probably go all-out and have a full three-course meal. There’s so much to choose from I’ll have no trouble selecting something. Give this place a go whether you’re a local or visiting London for a day out; it’s a really charming little place that is the perfect spot for festive food and drinks.

The New Year’s Eve menu looks good actually, with some lovely treats on offer. I may just have to pop in and try the sirloin steak! The prices don’t look too bad for New Year, too – maybe worth a go if you’re looking for somewhere to go that won’t break the bank.
