Starter - Loch Lomond Golf Club, Alexandria

We are looking for an experienced to job share in the running of the 1st Tee at Loch Lomond Golf Club.  As part of the Golf Operations Department, the Starter will work closely with Professional Shop Staff, Service Staff, Locker-room Attendants and Caddie Masters to ensure the delivery of exceptional service always.

The Starter is required to ensure that games tee off as per the sheet, at 12-minute intervals and we are looking for someone who has experience in managing a 1st tee with a friendly and approachable personality.  We expect our Starters to lead by example always, communicate well with other departments in the business and, predominantly, work as a team.

Days / Hours of work:

  • Contract: Monday 26th March – Wednesday 31st October 2018
  • 4/5 days over 7 (must be flexible with days of work)
  • Shifts will be set out at the beginning of the season between Starters
  • Start as early as 6.00am on and finish as late as 6.00pm on occasion (during maximum daylight hours – operational hours will change depending on daylight)
  • Hourly paid position

The Role:

  • Greeting members and guests in the same polite manner on the 1st tee
  • Ensure games tee off at 12-minute intervals
  • Replenish 1st tee supplies notifying Professional Staff of any foreseeable shortages
  • Communicate any tee sheet changes to the Professional Staff
  • Be proactive in managing the tee sheet / golfers on the course and reporting any foreseeable issues to the Professional Staff
  • Going out to Ranger on busier days and when there are reports of slow play
  • Assist with additional operational duties as necessary whenever there is availability to do so e.g. service staff
  • Complete a daily rounds report to be signed off with Professional Staff
  • As this is a shared role, handover should always be provided

The Person must be:

  • Polite, courteous and friendly to members and guests always
  • Motivated and determined to go above and beyond what is expected
  • Excellent at organising with an ability to prioritise time-sensitive assignments
  • Willing to study and learn who the members are
  • Creative and flexible – there may be occasions where you are asked to work late / additional days
  • Computer literate – MS Word, Outlook and Tee Time Management Systems – full training will be given on our Tee Time Management software

Performance of the Starter role will be reviewed at 6 and 10 weeks after which the trial period ends.
