General Manager

Leadership and Management are crucial to all organisations, small or big. Managers implement strategies in day-to-day operations. They establish processes and systems and monitor performance to ensure efficient use of company resources including materials, products, employees and capital. Managers ensure that employees have the education, direction and resources needed to perform their tasks.

All leisure sectors hold management positions, however the job and importance of a manager can vary from company to company. For example a manager of an independent travel agent has less responsibility than a manager of a holiday hypermarket who may have to manage dozens of staff as opposed to 3 staff. The great thing about management is the scope to grow, moving and transferring your skills to more senior positions or bigger sites. Salaries for full managers vary considerably with a starting salary of around £25k. Those interested in management positions should have strong communications skills, the ability to multi task and prioritise as well as the ability to deal with heavy workloads and the confidence to lead a team.

Experience will be expected.
