Group Exercise Instructor​s

We are looking for Group Exercise Instructors who are passionate about delivering classes that will encourage participation from all ages and abilities. You will deliver classes with energy and enthusiasm which will underpin our principle of Inspiring Active Lifestyles and have a key role in helping our Customers achieve their personal goals.

You will deliver classes in line with our policies and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.

You will need to be able to create an enjoyable environment which will encourage Customers to participate. You will also need to be reliable, punctual and adaptable with an passion for well delivered, fun, inclusive classes for all participants.

We are looking for general instructors, although we welcome applications from those qualified in the delivery of Combat, Step and Pump.

Background

Wave Leisure Trust Ltd. (Wave) was formed in 2006 as a registered charitable company limited by guarantee. The Trust manages nine facilities on behalf of Lewes District Council, East Sussex County Council, and in partnership with Seaford Head School, Ringmer Community College, Priory School and Newhaven Town Council.

The Wave Team has considerable experienced in the management of all aspects of community leisure, such as managing leisure centres (wet and dry), operating dual use sites (for example, schools and colleges), running sport and physical activity programmes (both indoor and outdoor), even providing consultancy and advisory services for councils, local companies, organisations and associations.

In addition, on the back of the Newhaven Fort transferring into the Wave Portfolio in May 2015, the Team is now responsible for managing a Heritage Site and Tourist Attraction, a destination providing an educational environment for all the family with stunning views of the South Coast.

Summary of Main Duties and Activities

  • Plan and execute a safe, fun and inspirational exercise class
  • Communicate instructions and commands using clear, simple language
  • Evaluate performance and provide suitable feedback
  • Encourage participants to gain and develop skills, knowledge and techniques
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses in a participant's performance and communicate areas for improvement
  • Evaluate individuals' abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable training programs to meet any special requirements
  • Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed
  • Deliver excellent customer service, liaising with Wave Employees to resolve /feedback complaints should they arise
  • Be proactive promoting events and new innovations with introduced by Wave Leisure
  • Working to a high legal and ethical standard at all times, particularly in relation to issues such as child safeguarding and health and safety requirement
