Community Delivery School Sport Officer - MK Dons Sports and Education Trust

Department: Community Delivery

Reporting to: Community Delivery Manager

Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term

Hours per week: 37.5 hours 5 out of 7 days

Overall Objective: To establish and develop the Milton Keynes Dons Sports and Education Trust Premier League Primary Stars programme within schools across Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire and to be responsible for developing additional sustainable school programmes to enhance the SET’s schools offer including the use of Multi Skills, Multi Sports and PSHE lessons.

Job Description

Main Objectives

  • To work with the Community Delivery Manager and Community Coaches to develop wider geographic delivery opportunities within schools across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and beyond.
  • To organise, co-ordinate and deliver sports coaching sessions in schools as part of the Premier League Primary Stars Programme.
  • To identify strategic ways to develop Multi Sport and Multi Skill activity within school delivery to enhance physical literacy
  • To develop PSHE content to deliver alongside the Premier League Primary Stars Programme
  • To develop a mentoring programme for primary school staff

Summary of Duties

  • To be responsible for the co-ordination, planning, delivery and the accountability of the Premier League Primary Stars Programme and other school delivery projects.
  • To attend all Premier League conferences and meetings throughout the year
  • To be able to work to a business plan and budget to hit targets and deadlines
  • To support in the delivery and planning of other CDE activities.
  • To carry out administrative duties as necessary e.g. maintain accurate attendance registers; carry out risk assessments, monitor & evaluate assessment of coaching sessions.
  • To upload all school delivery data onto substance views in accordance to the Premier League
  • To continue to develop partnerships with local School Sport Partnership Managers plus others in the Educational sector
  • To co-ordinate staff and create delivery plans
  • To be committed to continuous professional development relevant to the post and personal training needs supporting future career advancement. The individual is to provide CPD opportunity for staff to be upskilled in their school delivery.

Person Specification

Essential

  • FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football
  • FA Youth Module 1
  • FA Licensed
  • A recognised in date First Aid Qualification
  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a current FA Safeguarding Children Workshop certificate
  • An understanding of Schools PE & Sport Premium money and how it can be used
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and training events when required
  • Access to own transport
  • An understanding on how to interpret Substance Views
  • Experience of coaching in a sport and schools setting
  • Experience of project management
  • Experience of leading and coordinating staff
  • Experience of understanding and working towards a business plan and budget
  • An ability to keep and maintain records.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • An ability to demonstrate good administrative skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to set and work towards achieving targets
  • Ability to develop and implement high quality, varied and creative coaching sessions focusing on a young person-centred approach.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and encourage young people through sport.

Desirable

  • Qualified tutor in the delivery of 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport (QCF)
  • An understanding of the national curriculum and school governance.
  • An understanding of Talent Identification
  • An appreciation of Long Term Player Development
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with Key Stage 1 & 2 pupils
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience of mentoring community coaches
  • Experience with spreadsheets and databases
  • FA Youth Award Module 2
  • Any other relevant NGB qualification or Sport or Leisure qualification.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
