Erdington Leisure Centre is home to a 30m swimming pool that offers a great range of sessions for all types of swimmer, and a Turkish Suite which is made up of 3 hot rooms, 2 steam rooms and a sauna.

We are looking to recruit 6 x Swimming Instructor's (part time) to work between 2-5 hrs per week. Shifts available will be Monday - Friday early evenings and Saturday mornings.

Job Purpose
To deliver a programme of Swimming Instruction for various levels of ability and which meets the standards of the Schools or Strokes Swimming Instruction Scheme.

Main Duties and Responsibilities;
* To be responsible to the Site Manager for the effective day to day delivery and presentation of the Schools or Strokes Swimming Instruction Scheme.
* To provide advice and support to the Site Manager on the development of the site Swimming Instruction programme.
* Liaise with the Site Swimming Co-ordinator on course content and activity programmes specific to that site.
* To liaise with and assist teachers in charge of school classes when teaching on the schools instruction programme.
* To liaise with and maintain an effective relationship with parents when teaching swimming as part of the Strokes Instruction Scheme, including encouraging customer retention.
* To be responsible for the validation of appropriate badges and certificates relating to the Strokes Instruction Scheme and liaising with the Site Swimming Co-ordinator on their issue.
* Liaise with the Site Swimming Co-ordinator and Site Manager in relation to accessing appropriate staff training/personal development and in the maintenance of qualifications.

Essential / Desirable Skills for the role;
* Hold an ASA Swimming teacher qualification or equivalent is essential.
* Hold an NPLQ or Rescue award qualification or equivalent is desirable.
* Extensive and up to date knowledge of current swimming teaching practices.
* Good class management and motivation skills with a planning ability.
* Good Customer care and communication skills.
* To be able to work as part of team.
* Knowledge of current safety requirements for management of swimming lessons.
