Contract, Part Time

Do you enjoy working as part of a fast paced, dedicated team? Do you prefer to be back of house but still contribute towards helping customers? Do you want to work in an amazing location? If so this role could be for you.

We have 2 openings for Kitchen Porters to join our team on a fixed term basis. Both of these roles are based on annualised hours contracts where the amount of hours and days that you work each month may vary and will include weekend and bank holiday working, so flexibility will be required.

It is a great time to get involved, though Shugborough came to the Trust in the 1960’s, until recently the estate has been managed by Staffordshire County Council on a long term lease. Now, it has returned to the direct management of the National Trust and Shugborough has now newly opened as a visitor attraction.

What it's like to work here

Home to the Anson family since 1624, the Shugborough Estate is the complete working estate. The estate includes a Georgian mansion house with magnificent views over the riverside garden terraces, Grade 1 listed parkland, walled garden and working farm. More recently, Shugborough was the home of Patrick Lichfield, photographer and cousin to the Queen, and features in much of his work.

It’s an exciting time for catering on the Shugborough Estate. We have just opened two fully refurbished outlets; the Park Farm Café will be open 364 days per year serving Staffordshire Oatcakes, sandwiches and soup, drinks, cakes and snacks, while the Mansion Tearoom will serve hot lunches and afternoon tea as well as all cakes, drinks and snacks. We expect to welcome 125000 visitors during 2017 and hope that numbers will grow from there so it’s a great time to join us and be part of a busy catering team contributing an important part of the visitor experience.

What you'll be doing

With your love of working with people, positive attitude and desire to provide an excellent service, you’ll maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen ensuring it is immaculately presented at all times, in this predominately back of house role. As a key member of our busy catering team you will always be seeking opportunities to reduce waste and find ways of working to save time and money.

You’ll have the National Trust cause at the forefront of your mind, and you’ll be proud to share our good work with our customers, and look to help the team maximise sales, so that our profits can be reinvested back into our conservation work.
