 Life Leisure are launching a New Football Academy for young people to provide young people with the opportunity to advance their footballing abilities. Stockport Sports Village is one of the biggest and best football facilities in the North West and provides a perfect environment for young people to develop.

At Life Leisure we are looking for team members with a minimum Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football who demonstrate our preferred behaviours culture of being Winners, Authentic, Together, Caring and Happy. This role requires enthusiastic, responsible and hard working individuals to plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate quality football sessions to young people from Stockport and surrounding areas.

The philosophy at Life Leisure is Preferred Behaviours = Personal Best, quite simply that people achieve their personal best through the display of preferred behaviours. The below aims to give an idea of how Life Leisure expect the W.A.T.C.H. principles to be demonstrated by a Football Academy Coach.

Winner:

  • Assist in identifying talented young football players.
  • Be committed to continuous professional development relevant to the post.
  • Maintain knowledge of Life Leisure themes and programmes, policies and procedures.
  • Proactively promote the Academy when away from the session.

Authenticity:

  • Plan, prepare, deliver & evaluate football coaching sessions.
  • Consult with the Academy Manager about the aims of the programmes and sessions.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of junior players where necessary.
  • Complete periodical player appraisals for players.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.
  • Be aware of Life Leisure’s Health & Safety policy and Emergency procedures and take responsibility for Health and Safety aspects during activities.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that the equipment is correct and is kept in good working order.
  • Carry out administrative duties as and when necessary e.g. maintain accurate attendance registers, carry out risk assessments, etc.

Togetherness:

  • Brief all helpers, assistant coaches and players on the aims of the session and the purpose of each activity.
  • Attend any meetings with parents and children where appropriate.
  • Attend and contribute to team meeting as well as departmental work programmes.
  • Develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with all partners and community organisations.

Caring:

  • Supervise all participants attending Academy sessions.
  • Prepare and implement well-structured and progressive coaching programmes ensuring a high quality, enjoyable coaching experience centered on the needs of the participants.
  • Provide support and advice to the assistant coaches and volunteers within the coaching team
  • Ensure that you are well briefed about any special needs of the participants involved i.e. medical condition/disabilities etc.

  • Be presentable at all times whilst on duty.

Additional Preferred Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football
  • In-date FA Safeguarding Qualification or equivalent
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • FA Youth Module 1, 2 and 3.
  • Experience of coaching football.
  • Previous practical experience and theoretical knowledge in the planning and delivery of sport and physical activity sessions.
  • Experience of coaching young people in a club or community setting.
  • Knowledge of grassroots football.
  • Knowledge of and/or links to professional football.
