The Role

Responsible for any kitchen section/s or shifts as directed by the chef in charge, working flexibly across the Catering operation, and maintaining the highest standard of cuisine at all times, in all types of catering required by The Lensbury

Ensure that the laid down cleaning schedules and staff rotas are strictly followed to maintain the highest possible standard of hygiene in all kitchen areas and to ensure that all relevant Health and Safety requirements are met

Supervise the food production and service as required, working as directed by the chef in charge to attain and maintain the highest possible standards at all times and train junior staff

Assist with staff training as required in regards to both food preparation and health and safety requirements. Ensure all kitchen staff are proficient with the use of all kitchen equipment prior to use

Responsible for checking forthcoming menu requirements and ensure correct quantities of food are prepared in advance for service

Keep the Chef in charge informed of the stock position on all food and to ensure adequate stock is available and correctly rotated

Oversee the appropriate checking in of deliveries for quantity, quality, temperature and price

Responsible for the smooth running of the shift to ensure that menu requirements for the lounge, private functions, restaurants or conference dining as requested

Ensure the HACCP procedures are followed at all times, and all necessary forms are completed

 

The Candidate

Well experienced as a Chef in a leading similar sized establishment  

NVQ level 2/3 or similar experience and qualifications

Must have valid certificate at Level 2 Food Hygiene

Clean, neat and methodical approach to work

Able to work under pressure

High standard of food hygiene and fully understand HACCP and COSHH

A team player, well organised

Must be willing to work hard and be flexible as per business needs

To liaise with the floor staff and all chefs to ensure guest satisfaction and smooth running of service

Customer service appreciation and awareness

Excellent on the job training opportunity

 

Terms & Conditions

39 hours per week, worked on a shift rota basis

Paid annual leave of 4 x weekly contracted hours, plus pro rata bank holiday entitlement

Uniform provided and free meal whilst on duty

Use of some sports facilities including gym and swimming pool

Non-contributory pension scheme and private healthcare on service criteria

Live-in accommodation if required including 3 meals a day
