I am currently looking for an experience duty manager to join a leading leisure facility in Cheadle.  As a duty manager you will be responsible for day to day operational management of the centre whilst on shift including programming, staff supervision, health and safety, cleanliness and ensuring first class customer service at all times. You will be directly managing the health and fitness team, including a team of personal trainers and fitness instructors, so experience in personal training, and a passion for health and fitness is essential.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • To ensure the efficient day to day operation of the centre
  • Overall responsibility of the health and fitness team including rota’s, inductions, training, development and performance management.
  • To ensure a consistently high standard of cleanliness and site presentation including outside areas
  • Monitor centre maintenance and follow up on outstanding issues
  • To lead and attend meetings as required
  • Maintain a ‘shop floor’ presence when on shift and a high level of interaction with staff and customers
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to any complaints from staff or customers
  • Responsible for security of building and its contents at all times
  • Responsible for all aspects of banking and cash collection when on shift
  • To carry out duties of other members of staff if necessary, e.g. cover for breaks, holiday, sickness etc.
  • To assist on reception where required
  • To ensure compliance with health & safety requirements at all times
  • To carry out any general administrative duties as required
  • To carry out any additional duties as required by BM or SBM
  • To ensure that all accidents/incident are logged correctly and followed up where required

 Experience:

  • Previous experience as Duty Manager within Leisure
  • Ability to lead and influence a health and fitness team to achieve exceptional operational standards
  • First Aid at Work Qualified
  • A thorough understanding of Health & Safety in relation to leisure facility best practice
  • Ability to multi-task and a good time manager
  • A strong communicator
  • Experience of leading team meetings
  • Experience of conducting staff 1:1’s and appraisals
  • An understanding of cleaning specifications and schedule
  • An understanding of the sales process

Desirable:

  • A leisure degree or equivalent
  • Pool plant management certificate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the Quest process
  • An understanding of legal requirements in relation to health & safety
  • Experience of delivering training with particular emphasis on Health & Safety
  • A health & safety qualification
