I am currently looking for an experience duty manager to join a leading leisure facility in Cheadle.  As a duty manager you will be responsible for day to day operational management of the centre whilst on shift including programming, staff supervision, health and safety, cleanliness and ensuring first class customer service at all times. Managing a team of lifeguards on shift, you will also have sole responsibility for their rota’s, induction and training. This is a great opportunity for an experienced DM to take a step up to managing a large team at a large site, whilst working on their personal development to become and Assistant Manager and General manager for the future.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • To ensure the efficient day to day operation of the centre
  • Overall responsibility of the lifeguard team including rota’s, inductions, training, development and performance management.
  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of swimming pool operations including plant room
  • To ensure a consistently high standard of cleanliness and site presentation including outside areas
  • Monitor centre maintenance and follow up on outstanding issues
  • To lead and attend meetings as required
  • Maintain a ‘shop floor’ presence when on shift and a high level of interaction with staff and customers
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to any complaints from staff or customers
  • Responsible for security of building and its contents at all times
  • Responsible for all aspects of banking and cash collection when on shift
  • To carry out duties of other members of staff if necessary, e.g. cover for breaks, holiday, sickness etc.
  • To assist on reception where required
  • To ensure compliance with health & safety requirements at all times
  • To carry out any general administrative duties as required
  • To carry out any additional duties as required by BM or SBM
  • To carry out pool testing and backwashing
  • To ensure that all accidents/incident are logged correctly and followed up where required

 Experience:

  • Previous experience as Duty Manager at a Wet facility
  • Ability to lead and influence a lifeguard team to achieve exceptional operational standards
  • A thorough understanding of pool plant rooms
  • NPLQ qualified
  • First Aid at Work Qualified
  • A thorough understanding of swimming pool operations
  • A thorough understanding of Health & Safety in relation to leisure facility best practice
  • Ability to multi-task and a good time manager
  • A strong communicator
  • Experience of leading team meetings
  • Experience of conducting staff 1:1’s and appraisals
  • An understanding of cleaning specifications and schedule
  • An understanding of the sales process

Desirable:

  • A leisure degree or equivalent
  • Pool plant management certificate or equivalent
  • A thorough understanding of guidance HSG179
  • Knowledge of the Quest process
  • An understanding of legal requirements in relation to health & safety
  • Experience of delivering training with particular emphasis on Health & Safety
  • National pool lifeguard qualified assessor
  • A health & safety qualification
  • A fitness qualification
