Sales and Events Manager - Hixter

Hixter, a modern, British restaurant and bar are looking for an experience Sales and Events Manager to join a team. The Southwark area is quickly becoming an exciting area to work in, as the clientele are diverse and the size and flexibility of the venue allow a wide range of different events to take place. A large part of the role is adapting offerings and service style to accommodate the different guest groups. Whilst corporate events make up a large part of the events that take place, you will also work on weddings, birthday parties and other more personal events.

The job role requires a close working relationship with all heads of departments, as well as feeding back to operational levels. You will be required to manage your own time and maintain a strong level of self-discipline and motivation. The sales part of the role will involve driving new business and building relationships with local event bookers and in the wider area. The events side of the role is hands on and, particularly for larger events, you will be confident managing the team and driving the event schedule.

* Responding efficiently to event enquiries and carrying out show-rounds.

* Planning events with guests, assisting with requirements and providing suggestions where necessary. Maintaining knowledge of our offering and being able to make informed recommendations on food and drink – it is essential to be one step ahead and provide guidance for hosts from your knowledge of the venue and catering.

* Compiling comprehensive and clear function sheets for all departments to ensure the client’s requirements are met.

* Working to financial targets, tracking event takings and working to upsell and drive event business where appropriate.

* Feeding back to the Operations team on a monthly basis; analysing event performance and adapting the improve on this month on month.

* Working with the team to set up and run larger events – you will be the driving force behind the running of larger events, ensuring that setup is to the guest’s specification and that the event runs to time (as much as possible). This role also includes work around delivery of dietary requirements to the correct guests, last minute host requests and generally being the point of contact for the peak section of the event.

* An understanding of OpenTable is helpful but not necessary.
