Better Children's Centres are looking for a bank of Casual Child and Family Practitioners to work across the South and East Greenwich Children's Centres, to provide cover and help run our creches and stay and play sessions across various locations in South East London. Our Children's Centres serve almost 9,400 under 5's and their families - aiming to give children equality in their early life chances as well as providing learning and guidance opportunities to help families live more fulfilling lives.

High quality care, education and a safe, yet enjoyable environment is of the utmost importance in our Children's Centres, so your commitment to deliver these will be key to your role. You will be a creative thinker, able to lead and devise fun sessions for children and babies up to 5 years old in everything from song and story times to arts and crafts.

You will have proven experience of working with under 5s and have a good knowledge of safeguarding issues and procedures. An understanding of equality and diversity issues is of the utmost importance as our service users come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures with differing needs including disabled children and those with special needs. You should have excellent communication skills as not only will you be working with our children and families but with colleagues and peers in the centres at all levels. Good written and computer skills, a minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Child Development or equivalent, is essential.

In return, we offer:

  • Pension
  • Discounted membership at our leisure centres
  • Career pathways
  • Ongoing training and development

If you have the skills, knowledge and passion for this role, apply now.

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications, age and location.
