We are looking for the best Crèche Assistant to make things happen for our customers at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre in Essex. The role is full time, working 40 hours per week paying £6.50 - 6.73 per hour.

You will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and working with a diverse and dynamic team within a fast paced environment.

The company

We work in collaboration with our partners in your community to provide recreational sport, health and fitness activities. A registered charity, we formed in April 2000 with a handful of facilities in Southwark. Since then we have consistently made a surplus (profit) each year which means we have been able to put that back into improving our facilities. We now have nearly 80 facilities nationwide including swimming pools and health and fitness centres and even an ice rink, an outdoor sports centre and indoor bowls centres.

The role

You will be responsible for:

* providing a safe, caring, learning environment for young children in the Centre's crèche
* offering a varied, interesting programme of activities appropriate to the needs of the children
* assisting the Manager/Supervisor as per the demands of the facility and in accordance with requirements set out in Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage
* carrying out the daily operations of the facility with regards to all statutory child care legislation, including the Children's Act 1989 and Service Standards
* maintaining accurate records of visits and any accidents and incidents
* ensuring the preparation of all areas for activities or special events as required
* carrying out cleaning and maintenance of the facility, including minor repairs to maintain quality standards
* assisting with basic hygiene and toileting needs of children as required
* assisting in the effective operations of the activity programme by coaching / teaching, where appropriate
* assisting in the development of programming through innovative ideas and initiating actions to meet the demands of the customers
* ensuring all concerns of a child safeguarding nature are referred in a timely and appropriate manner, in accordance with Fusion's Safeguarding policy.

The candidate

The experience and background you will need is:

* Nationally recognised NVQ level 3 childcare qualification
* Knowledge of child development and early years learning
* Understanding of relevant health and safety legislation
* Excellent verbal communication skills, particularly in relation to building trust and rapport with children and their parents
