We are looking for the best Dry/Fitness Operations Manager to make things happen for our customers at Robinson Pool in Bedford. The role is full time, working 40 hours per week paying £20,000 - £24,000 per annum.

You will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and working with a diverse and dynamic team within a fast paced environment.

The company

We work in collaboration with our partners in your community to provide recreational sport, health and fitness activities. A registered charity, we formed in April 2000 with a handful of facilities in Southwark. Since then we have consistently made a surplus (profit) each year which means we have been able to put that back into improving our facilities. We now have nearly 80 facilities nationwide including swimming pools and health and fitness centres and even an ice rink, an outdoor sports centre and indoor bowls centres.

The role

You will be responsible for:

* leading in the development of robust dry side programming and drive revenue for all dry side activities, including tracks, halls, studios, creche, softplay and junior activities
* achieving centre financial targets and dry side KPIs, including customer service targets, occupancy targets, revenue targets, payroll costs and participation levels
* ensuring that all contracts, licences and documentation required for the safe and effective operation of the centre are in place and adhered to consistently
* providing clear leadership with regards to compliance with all health and safety procedures and requirements, fixing or escalating issues as appropriate
* reviewing marketing collateral regularly to ensure it is effective and up-to-date
* day to day management of the leisure centre, carrying out the Team Leader role when on duty management shift
* deputising for the General Manager as required
* ensuring all safe systems at work are adhered to and general building management including maintenance and repairs
* supporting the preparation of annual service plans, financial plans and statistics

The candidate

The experience and background you will need is:

* First Aid at Work Certificate
* Ability to obtain a nationally recognised pool lifeguard qualification
* Supervisory experience in the hospitality or service industries
* Experience of working as a Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer or Group Exercise Instructor.
* Experience of managing a team including training, development, appraisals, performance management and recruiting staff
* Experience in financial management and budget preparation, and a proven track record of meeting financial targets
* Understanding of membership management and retention systems
* Understanding of relevant health and safety and employment legislation
* Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and persuade.
* Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills
* Good numerical and written skills
