Maintenance Manager - Birchwood Park Golf and Country Club

Responsible to: General Manager/Building and Project manager

Main Duties:

Manage and participate in the maintenance of the building and equipment within Birchwood Park Golf and Country Club. Liaise with all BGL sites and the Building and Project Manager to ensure the smooth coordination of annual services, group contract and communication with external suppliers.

Responsibilities (Birchwood Park Golf and Country Club):

  • Prepare and maintain a program of routine maintenance for all equipment adhering to the manufacturer’s guidelines
  • To oversee the on-going daily work activities of employees in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to all Health and Safety practices
  • To lead, train and motivate staff both individually and as a team
  • Take responsibility for teamwork situations, ensuring standards and time scales of work are maintained
  • Prioritise work in conjunction with the site and group maintenance needs
  • Set high performance standards and participate in internal and external audits
  • Liaise, build and maintain good communications/relations with departmental staff, managers and external suppliers
  • Manage the maintenance budget and monitor expenditure
  • Take action when spending is not kept in line whilst keeping the General Manager fully informed
  • Prepare and manage all required documentation and notifications for the purpose of ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Manage the day to day maintenance, operation and servicing of the Club including the pool plant
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards
  • Ensure policies and procedures meet statutory and audit requirements
  • Manage and monitor the performance of suppliers, contractors, consultants and other delivery partners on a regular basis to ensure regulatory targets are met, quality of workmanship and service is maintained and a ‘value for money’ service provided
  • Maintain all equipment to the approved standard of use adhering to Health and Safety guidelines
  • Diagnose and repair all operational fault
  • Maintain all service records in line with the company standard
  • Be able to use all types of maintenance tools including drills, soldering equipment, jig saws, grinding machines, hand tools, saws etc: conforming to Health and Safety regulation
  • Maintain up to date training for the maintenance team
  • Ensure the workshop environment is maintained to an organised, safe and clean at all times
  • Comply with BGL personnel policies and procedures and health and safety procedures
  • Undertake any further duties or training as requested by the management

Responsibilities (Central):

  • Liaise with group wide contractors on behalf of other BGL sites
  • Implement, manage, organise, audit and review annual services contract across all BGL sites, ensuring compliance throughout
  • Monitor, schedule and co-ordinate annual service contracts on a monthly basis, liaise and action any matters or issues that arise in conjunction with Building and Project Manager
  • Ensure all equipment servicing, boiler testing, water management, alarm and fire maintenance, electrical inspections, waste management etc are kept up to date and in line with the current legislation
  • Maintain regular communication with all other BGL sites and aid in communicating with external suppliers when needed
  • To assist and manage the groups asset management and capex programmes in conjunction with the Building and Project Manager
  • Provide regular and comprehensive management information to the Building and Project Manager
  • Oversee the groups’ health and safety and risk assessment programmes and processes, ensuring legal compliance
  • Forwarding recommendations and updates in a timely fashion to the Building and Project Manager
  • Undertake any project work as directed by the Building and Project Manager

Working Conditions:

Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.  Employee is regularly required to stand and walk outdoors, work in confined spaces and be exposed to hazardous substances. This is a practical hands on operational position
