Assistant Manager Vacancy: Are you an Assistant Manager looking for a fantastic new opportunity? We are looking for an Assistant Manager at the Merlin, Morningside, Edinburgh. The Role is to help lead the team towards our goal of always giving exceptional customer service in relaxed and informal surroundings.

Situated on the Main Road in the suburb of Morningside in Edinburgh , with good links to public transport. The Merlin has a mixed clientele and caters for everyone! With a function booking room which is vital to boosting our Friday and Saturday night trade.

The ideal candidate will help drive function room bookings and social media savvy.You will be a team player that leads by example and have exceptional customer focus. The Merlin is a busy site and is the largest pub in the area .

Key Responsibilities


To deputise for the Retail Manager in times of absence.
Promote friendly, efficient and effective relationships with all customers and team members.
Monitor staff performance
Monitor daily operations
Ensure correct operating procedures are followed and company standards are met.
Be aware of the house P&L and actions required to achieve budget.
Carry out regular till and stock checks.
Performance-manage or discipline staff when needed.
Maintain a safe environment for customers and staff at all times.




Essential Qualities

Experience in the licence trade
Experience in supervising and motivating a team
Ability to follow company procedures and deliver high standards
Computer literate with competent numerical & cash handling skills
Demonstrate due diligence & encourage a safe working environment
Willing to undertake training and personal development
Flexible and adaptable to perform any other duties as required
Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends, days, afternoons and evenings
