Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust working in conjunction with Slimming World has recently been successful in tendering to Ashton, Leigh & Wigan Primary Care Trust to provide a borough wide, Community Weight Management service. We are looking to recruit 6 Community Activity Officers to assist in the delivery of the new physical activity service for the Community Weight Management programme. This programme is a great opportunity to set up a high profile, new, exciting and innovative service across the Wigan Borough. This will include the setting up, delivery and sustainability of physical activity courses and classes for men and women wanting to lose weight. The posts will also involve supporting patients long term as well as working closely with NHS Direct, (Access Hub), Slimming World and Ashton. Leigh & Wigan PCT.

Applicants should have a recognised fitness qualification (NVQ level 2 or equivalent) in at least two disciplines and specialised exercise related qualification in at least one discipline, e.g. chair based exercise leader, cardiac rehabilitation, postural instability training etc. Applicants should have demonstrate experience of: taking a wide variety of exercise classes on a regular basis, working with people of all ages and backgrounds with varied and complex health needs and experience in setting up exercise classes within a local community.
