The hours are in accordance with the needs of the Service. Evening and weekend work are part of the requirement

Wigan Sports Development Unit is seeking a motivated Sports Development Officer and Community Sports Coach to join its highly successful Team.

The role will make an important contribution to supporting the Trusts vision ‘Getting Wigan Active’ and thereby increasing sport and physical activity across the Borough. The Officer will be responsible for taking a lead on Coach Development and targeted Community Activities. In addition, the successful Candidate will be involved in sports development events, managing identified sports projects, working with external agencies and leading sport specific development groups as identified in annual work programmes. The post will work in partnership with National Governing Bodies of sport, Children & Young People’s Services and the Greater Manchester Sports Partnership.

You will have:
• Experience in sports development related role, managing and delivering a wide variety of sports projects.
• A relevant degree or equivalent/further professional qualification or considerable experience within the sports development field.
• An ability to, work within a team, develop new initiatives, set performance indicators and monitor goals and targets.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• Proven ability to secure External Funding is desirable.
• Budget Management Skills would be an advantage.
• A Current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
