Role Title: Reception Manager

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Main Responsibilities

  • To ensure all reservations are of a company standard with a guaranteed method of payment to maximise revenue within the Hotel.
  • To anticipate guests needs wherever possible in order to deliver an exceptional quality of service and in turn guest satisfaction.
  • To promote a helpful and professional image within the department ensuring full co-operation is given to colleagues in other departments.
  • To manage, train and develop the Reception and Night teams ensuring that objectives are set and regularly monitored in line with the hotel business plan.
  • To hold monthly departmental meetings, ensuring that all staff are fully trained and briefed on any changes or forthcoming events and can demonstrate excellent product knowledge.
  • To produce monthly training plans in which departmental, Hotel and statutory needs are identified. To help conduct and record training.
  • In liaison with the Personnel Manager, plan the labour resource for the department to meet the company standards for recruitment and selection.
  • To effectively supervise and control the operation of the Reception department ensuring that all staff are able to carry out their duties to the agreed departmental standard.
  • To promote a helpful and professional image within the department ensuring full co-operation is given to colleagues in other departments.
  • To attend any departmental, communication and training meetings as required.
  • To hold monthly departmental meetings, ensuring that all staff are fully trained and briefed on any changes or forthcoming events.
  • To produce monthly training plans in which departmental, Hotel and statutory needs are identified.
  • To be fully conversant with the Hotels reservations policy and procedures.
  • To ensure all accounting procedures are carried out and procedures relating to the Reception and Nights department.
  • To carry out Duty Management shifts.
  • To report any maintenance problems and check that all matters specifically affecting guests or health and safety are dealt with promptly.
  • To ensure full compliance with Company and legal requirements relating to fire and health and safety procedures.
  • To undertake any reasonable duties as requested by your colleagues or the management of the Hotel.
