Plant and Mechanical Engineer - The Langham, London

Job Summary

As a Plant and Mechanical Engineer your key duties will be connected with providing full and effective maintenance service to all of the Hotel’s plant rooms, equipment and infrastructure.

Your duties will include:

  • To be responsible for the effective maintenance and repair of all reported defects during each shift.

  • To liaise with Engineering department colleagues about faults with plant and infrastructure.

  • To attend to all plant, equipment, catering equipment and mechanical infrastructure as instructed.

  • In the event of a repair / fault being beyond the expertise of the Plant Engineer, these should be reported to the Technical Services Manager and Assistant Chief Engineer after ensuring that if possible the hazard is sectioned off or isolated and that warning signs are posted.

  • To call out if necessary any company which can assist in the repair of such a fault or breakdown.

  • To be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the plant rooms e.g. Boilers, pumps and ventilation.

  • To be responsible for a DECT phone and answering calls promptly and to hold the callout phone when requested.

  • To be responsible for the cleanliness of the plant rooms and workshop during shift hours.

  • Previous experience within a similar role in a hospitality environment or previous plant experience within another sector is essential

  • Ability to use building management systems, be versed withair handling units, fan coil units, control valves, good knowledge of boilers and chillers

  • Positive and proactive attitude

  • Self starter who is able to work on their own initiative but also as part of the Engineering team

  • Mechanical skills would be desirable
