General Studio Manager - Flying Fantastic

Reports to: Director

Hours: 42 hours p/w (flexible hours to be agreed around director’s hours - see example below)

Salary: Up to £24,000 – dependent on experience + performance related bonus

Holiday entitlement: 28 days per annum (inc 8 statutory bank holidays)

Training available: 1st Aid. Health and Safety / Rigging. Training in circus arts disciplines available. (See benefits below)

Flying Fantastic is an aerial fitness company dedicated to getting Londoner’s flying. We offer aerial fitness classes in a wide range of disciplines - from silks to slings. Harness to hoop - with many others in-between.

Founded in 2011, we’re a small, dynamic, creative and hands-on team. The two founding directors work closely with a talented team of instructors, delivering innovative and inspiring classes to Londoners on a daily basis. 

We’re working to create a company that is truly distinct from the mass of boutique fitness operators out there. We’ve a unique proposition, a fantastic central London venue, a loyal customer base and an amazing team already on board.

General Studio Manager’s role:

This is a permanent, full time role at Flying Fantastic’s HQ on Union Street, Central London. Working in a small, committed and enthusiastic team, you will be the primary point of contact for all customers and teachers, managing their diaries and their needs and requests as required. You will be working closely with the two directors and will be responsible for the smooth running and on-going maintenance of the companies various venues (primarily Union Street).

Principal responsibilities:

  • To be the main point of contact for all teachers and customers to ensure the effective and safe operation of Flying Fantastic.
  • To play a key role in ensuring the studios are fit for purpose, compliant with all rules and regulations, and are prepared and ready for use throughout the day.
  • To actively help market, promote and develop the company, assisting the directors with marketing and publicity requirements.
  • To manage bookings, respond to client enquiries, administer accounts via the online booking system
  • To assist in developing the company and its operational policies and procedures. Then to ensure these are effectively implemented.
  • To effectively communicate matters that may arise with the relevant staff and keep reports of all matters arising.
  • To support the Directors in administering all aspects of the business, deputising for them when necessary

Operational Duties:

  • Client relationship management – via phone / email / face to face
  • Diary management – assisting with the administration of the booking system (Mindbody)
  • Building management – to maintain the condition of the building, ensuring it is clean and welcoming at all times and to manage the rigging requirements around the building.
  • – assisting with promoting the company in conjunction with the directors
  • Reception management – meet and greet customers before classes
  • Time management – to ensure classes run on time and to schedule
  • – to maintain rigging and other operational checklists are kept up to date
  • Health and safety – to be a principal First Aider on Site and to act as Fire Warden

Candidate specification:

Essential skills:

  • Experience working within a customer-facing environment
  • Practical hands on approach
  • Good administration skills
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Experience of working in teams
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Fluent English

Desirable skills:

  • Ability to run fitness / circus skills classes (beginners level)
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • Experience working in and a passion for the leisure / fitness / circus industry
