Stockroom Assistant (XMAS Temp) - Birmingham Fort - 16 hrs
Christmas is a busy and exciting time for Debenhams. Our Stockroom Assistants play a vital role in our stores at Christmas to ensure our products are ready and available for our customers. This temporary role will offer you the chance to experience the exciting variation that comes with working in retail at our busiest time of year.
Often operating behind the scenes our Stockroom Assistants are dedicated to making sure the shop floor remains well stocked and quickly replenished, processing the deliveries that arrive daily. They are calm yet adaptable and flexible to the ever changing demands and priorities that this role operates within.
From the arrival of our deliveries you will support the unloading, sorting, tagging and sizing of stock in preparation for its arrival to the shop floor as well as using our in house technology to identify and record the required products. Our Stockroom Assistants promote a positive and willing approach towards product availability and presentation, ensuring all sizes, colours and styles are available for our customers to buy.
You will be required to identify stock discrepancies or damages when processing our products and deliveries therefore a strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential. Working within this environment you will require an awareness of security at all times to ensure our stock room remains a safe environment for all staff. You will be required to demonstrate an understanding of health and safety and manual handling guidelines which you will apply when climbing ladders or lifting heavy items.

For some of our stores our Christmas vacancies could take effect as early as September and run through until early January and will require you to be available within the local area for this period. Our staff will be required to work some of our most important trading dates which include 3 rd / 4 th , 10 th / 11 th , 17 th / 18 th , 23 rd / 24 th and 26 th Dec , Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
This is a fully flexible role and will require you to work up to 5 out of 7 full days per week for which rotas will be provided 4 weeks in advance (including weekends & bank holidays). The days and times for each shift may vary depending on the business needs.
