The Dog and Partridge is a community pub in Failsworth, Manchester,, which operates under our Village format. This is a seasonal business with high volume food sales and a strong wet trade.
Trading Area and Private Accommodation
The Dog and Partridge has capacity for 100 covers across the large restaurant area and the smaller bar area. The pub boasts a large garden with approximately 100 covers which benefits from an external bar and garden grill, which have just been completed. The beer garden has recently undergone a £40,000 refurbishment.
The private accommodation offers three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and an office.
Local Area and Customer Base
Failsworth is an affluent suburb of Manchester, made up of private housing. There are a number of smaller mixed housing estates in the near vicinity, creating a large population from which the pub can draw.
The Dog and Partridge attracts mostly destination dining customers from the surrounding area but when the sun shines it brings in many customers from the local area due to its fantastic outdoor facilities.
The pub is currently trading at around £14,000 per week but it has the potential to achieve weekly sales of £20,000. If the outside space is fully utilised sales could reach £25,000 per week during the summer months.
The successful candidate would need to be an experienced operator with the ability to handle high volume food and also manage a seasonal business with a strong wet trade.
To be successful in this role you will need to have experience of running a successful pub business, with a proven track record in implementing profit-driving sales ideas. You will be passionate about the industry and up for the challenge of being the driving force behind a community based pub, developing the business through your experience and knowledge. In addition to these skills you will need:
- A Personal Licence
- Experience of managing and developing a team
- High operational standards
- Experience of taking full responsibility for profit and loss
- Good organisation and communication skills
- The ability to organise a range of community based activities and events such as charity nights and pub team games
